OMV Bulgaria, which is headquartered in Sofia, entered the market at the end of 1998. In 2009, the company marked 10 years of presence of its filling station network on the Bulgarian market. During this period, the company has grown into one of the biggest investors in the country and holds a market share of 21%. OMV Bulgaria directly employs 73 people and has created over 2.000 new jobs via its network of 95 filling stations.
OMV filling stations first introduced the concept of a multifunctional service centre in Bulgaria. The OMV brand represents consistent provision of high quality products and services and holds the lead in introducing novelties to the market that set the trend in consumer convenience. OMV filling stations were the first network to launch their own brand of restaurants and shops – VIVA. 87 VIVA shops offer their customers a clearly structured range of goods for the daily need including a wide range of fresh products and snacks and refreshments. OMV also introduced consumer conveniences such as children’s playgrounds at filling stations, round-the-clock sale of road vignettes, Wi-Fi Internet, equipping the entire station network with cash machines, as well as OMV Radio which provides useful information for the drivers.

OMV now has 2,331 filling stations as of Q1/10. The market share of the group in the R&M business segment in the Danube Region is now 20%.
OMV further strengthened its leading position in the European growth belt through the acquisition of 41.58% of Petrol Ofisi, Turkey’s leading company in the retail and commercial business.
In June 2006, OMV has established the OMV Future Energy Fund, a wholly owned subsidiary to support projects in renewable energy with more than EUR 100 mn to initiate the change from a pure oil and gas group to an energy group with renewable energy in its portfolio.
OMV is a signatory to the UN Global Compact, and an active supporter to the values enshrined in its Code of Conduct. These include a strong sense of responsibility towards the social and natural environment, especially in economically weak regions. OMV continuously addresses economic, environmental and social issues related to its business in a responsible manner. The Company reports on its activities in a sustainability report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Guidelines. This report is published at the same time as the annual report.
